Sweet Little Girl

Adelyn is now 2 months old! She is just so beautiful. I love looking at my little girl. I knew that I wanted a baby and I definitely had that "itch" before we got pregnant. But I really do feel like she filled a huge void in my life that I didn't know was there.

Adelyn is my first experience with a newborn. I've never really been around one except for our nephew Aiden. But we were really only with him for a few hours at a time and almost always with his parents. So my first 24 hours with Adelyn was the longest I had spent with a baby. It's an adjustment but I love being with her.

Joseph ended up catching that stomach bug going around on Addie's 1 week birthday. That meant I was the only that could take care of her for a few days. I was so used to it just being me and her that when Joseph's parents came into town it was hard for me to let them hold her. I was so used to taking care of her that it was hard for me to accept help. But by the time they were leaving I depended on them! It was really nice to go take a nap. She wasn't sleeping well at that point so it was nice to sleep during the day. Luckily on the last day they were here she started sleeping well and only waking up once a night.

At 5 weeks she started sleeping through the night. The first night it happened she went to bed at 9 and then I woke up at 3am and figured she would be up soon so I just went back to sleep. Then at 5 I woke up and kind of freaked out because she was still asleep! I didn't know what to do! I went and checked on her and she was fine... just sleeping. I laid in bed debating on what I should do. Then at 6 I went and "accidentally" woke her up. I  just didn't know if I should let her keep sleeping. The next night she woke up again at 3am and went back to bed. Then a few nights later she started sleeping through the night. By 6 weeks she was sleeping through the night, every night. It's been nice.

Lately she has been sucking on the back of her hand, sticking out her tongue for fun, and rubbing her eyes when she is tired. All of those things are SO cute! She's also starting to play with the toys that hang from her play mat.

Ever since she was born she has LOVED the window blinds. And now... she smiles at the window blinds more than she smiles at us! She even coos at the blinds more than she coos at us. At first I was really upset about it until she started smiling and cooing at us. The doctor said it's normal for babies to fall in love with blinds and ceiling fans before they fall in love with their parents. This morning was really cute because she I was changing her diaper and Joseph came over and she smiled at him. I loved it! She was also cooing tons at us this morning. She is so much happier in the morning than she is in the afternoon. But that's ok.

This was in the evening during her fussy period. She finally fell asleep on her  Daddy <3

Two Months Old!!!

I think she looks like her Daddy in this picture because of her eye shape and her mouth :)

My little chunka munka!! At her 2 month appointment.

First time in the bumbo!

She loves her baths! They calm her right down when she's fussy.

I love this picture with Sammy! He jumped in the chair right after they sat down.

Playing with her toys!

8 weeks old!

Sleeping and thinking :)
Today we had Adelyn's 2 month check up. She's doing great! She's 11 pounds 8 ounces and 22.5 inches long. I love this little chunka munka!!

5 Weeks Old

So I've been really horrible about blogging. I wish I was better because I don't want to forget things. But today 2 AMAZING things happened! Well 3. Adelyn turned 5 weeks old, she slept through the night from 9:15pm to 6am, and she smiled when we sang the "Itsy Bitsy Spider"! What a great day for our little baby! I wasn't able to get a picture of the smile, but hopefully soon.

At her 1 month check up she was 8 pounds 4 ounces and 21.5 inches long. She's still wearing newborn clothes because she is LONG AND SKINNY! Seriously? Who does this child belong to? LOL. The only thing newborn she doesn't wear are pajamas because she is too long for those. But her 0-3 month ones swallow her alive.

My dad and aunt Merle came out to visit our sweet little girl and they of course loved her. It was a really nice visit. Joseph's parents also came out a few weeks earlier and that was also a great visit.

While Dad and Merle were out we blessed Adelyn. That was a really special time. It really made me glad that Joseph and I were sealed in the temple because now our sweet little girl is also sealed to us forever.

And because I'm exhausted right now, these pictures are completely out of order and I don't really care :) I'll add a few captions though.

The funniest picture I've taken of Addie. I caught her at just the right moment

I survived the first month and she's still alive!
