Grandparents

Adelyn has had a lot of love from Grandparents lately! We went to visit my family between October 7th and October 14th. It was a lot of fun. Going on the plane wasn't too bad. We were scheduled to fly American Airlines. The week before we were scheduled to fly is when they were having the issues with the seats sliding around and issues with the planes. I was nervous!!!! Also, they had canceled tons of flights and I was nervous that we were going to have big delays and I was going to be stuck at the airport with Adelyn. Luckily everything went well on the way there. She was a super happy baby for both flights. The flight attendants said she was the best baby they've had and then people at baggage claim kept coming up to us saying how good she was and how impressed they were. She really is generally a happy baby except when her mouth is bothering her from her teeth. (Like today).

This was the first time Adelyn met Uncle Jeff and Uncle Doug. We went to a pumpkin patch, saw her great grandpa, auntie Merle came to visit and we saw Sandy.
She loved Uncle Jeff's Goatee

Last weekend Joseph's parents came and visited us. We went fossil hunting and then went to SeaWorld! Adelyn loved SeaWorld. She was laughing and smiling at the animals. The shows kept her attention. She loved watching the birds at one of the shows. The ducks in the pond were probably her favorite part of the day. Lots of fun!

7 Months Old!! *A little late*

I need to get this here before Adelyn turns 8 months old! LOL My little sweetie is 7 months old! That happened on the 26th. Our sweet girl is talking so much more now. It's so adorable! She's also rolling across the floor. She's not crawling yet, but she's starting to push herself backwards when she's on her belly. Sammy is her greatest motivation to move.

*She has 2 teeth: September 5th and September 29th
*She raises her arms when I go to pick her up.
*She gives kisses.
* She loves Bananas and Apples but hates peas and green beans. She won't open her mouth after the 2nd bite.
*She rolls all over the place.
*She stands up when we place her up and can stand for a few seconds holding on to things.
*She still likes watching the cars drive by. She laughs a lot and she loves being tickled.

6 months old

Baby girl is 6 months old now! After moving, living in a hotel, traveling to Dallas, going to Arizona, coming back to San Antonio and finally getting our furniture, things are starting to settle down. It only took a month and a half :) We still aren't fully unpacked though. That is happening slowly. It will feel nice when it's all done with.

Happy Girl

Such a sweet girl

Loving her Sammy
This little girl has so much personality now! She is still blowing raspberries all the time. She does it when she's happy and mad. And she always does it at the perfect time when you ask her a question that she would say no to. LOL. She rolls over but only from her tummy to her back and only to the right side. She has rolled from her back to her stomach but that was only once. She also can sit up on her own now, which she loves! We had her 6 month check up yesterday and the doctor said Adelyn will have to go on her tummy every time I put her down to try and get her to continue to roll. We also found out that Adelyn is officially a chunk! Weighing in at 18 pounds 6 ounces and in the 90% percentile!

She is the sweetest little girl. She has started giving me kisses and she has been giving hugs for a while. I love it when I'm holding her and all of a sudden she turns towards me, hugs me, and nuzzles her face in my shoulder and/or starts eating my shoulder. It's so sweet! She also LOVES people! She loves going to the store and smiling at everyone who talks to her. And lots of people talk to her! She especially loves it when we hold her with her back to our chest so she can look out at the world. Adelyn also loves watching cars drive by. Sometimes when her teeth are bothering her or if she's fussy we go outside to watch the cars. When we were at the hotel we would just look out the window because we were right on the freeway. Speaking of teeth, she does have one tooth coming in. We felt it for a few days and now her gums have swollen over the area.

Adelyn LOVES Sammy! She smiles whenever he comes near her and she always reaches to pet him. I'm trying to teach her to be gentle with him. She's starting to get the hang of it, but still comes away with a fist full of Sammy fur on occasion.

She has been eating solid foods since about 5 months old. We started her on single grain oatmeal because she has a bit of a sensitive tummy and that's what the doctor suggested. She has also had sweet potatoes and carrots. I made the carrots and I am actually pretty proud of myself. I really want to make most of her baby food (I'm still not sure about the meats yet). Next I'm going to try pears, apples, peas, and green beans.

Everyday she is growning into her personality. She is so silly and loves to have fun. Here are A LOT of cute videos that we took over the past month. We think they are super cute but it could just be because she's our baby :)

We made it!

{Adelyn woke up so I didn't have time to organize the pictures. here they are for now :)}

Well, it took 20 hours but we made it to San Antonio! Adelyn was so great the entire trip (except for the last 3 hours). She slept almost the whole time but then the last 3 hours she SCREAMED! That was her breaking point. Luckily it was only 3 hours. Joseph's mom came with us and we were so glad she did. It mad everything a lot easier.

Our plan when we got down here was to find a place to live within a week and move right in. WRONG! We were so used to what we paid for our mortgage in Maricopa that we thought if we added a couple hundred to that it should be enough to find a decent place to live. WRONG AGAIN! The first house we went in was like a fun house. The floors were slanted! Later on we ended up in what can only be described as government housing and we were afraid to leave our cars. We finally upped our budget and that day found a cute little home in a nice neighborhood. Sammy was so glad to finally move into a house and out of the hotel room. I felt so bad because I could tell he was depressed. I took him on MANY MANY walks with Adelyn strapped to my front in an Ergo carrier. But he still had a hard time living in that tiny room. Our room was a "studio room". It was a tiny kitchenet, a place for a couch, a bed, and a bathroom.

Our Small Room. Imagine Addie's pack and play at the end of the bed and Sammy's huge kennel  in front of the couch

Our House!
We couldn't bring much stuff with us to San Antonio so this is what we have to live in our house until August 9th when our stuff gets here: 2 twin mattresses (laying on the floor in our bedroom), a pack and play, bumbo chair, two camping chairs, basic things to take care of Adelyn (bottles, diapers, breast pump, clothes, bath tub, etc etc), toiletries, Sammy's kennel, toys, and bowls, our clothes, 2 towels, sheets for the mattresses, my ample supply of breast milk (kept in a cooler until we got to San Antonio where our room had a full size fridge with a freezer), our computer with all of our pictures and everything on it, and our two laptops. I think that's about it. Of course we've bought a few things so we can eat and cook here. Needless to say, I'm pretty bored and trying to make it work in our house until our things get here.

It ended up taking us 2 weeks to move into our house. By the end of the 2 weeks we were sick of the free breakfast which consisted of eggs and Texas shaped waffles. It is nice to be in our own home despite the ridiculously huge bugs. I'm not even kidding! We've had two cockroaches or "water bugs". One was in the bathroom on Tuesday night and then last night when Adelyn woke up at 3 am I brought her to the living room to change her diaper and feed her in my camping chair. I looked over to the dining area and there was a roach running across the floor. Luckily Joseph came out because he heard Addie crying and he was able to get the roach. We sprayed the house today so hopefully that will help! So gross! Everything IS bigger in Texas!

Joseph really likes his job so far. His department is still in it's "infancy" so he is able to put in a lot of input from what he learned at Apollo Group. I went and visited his work the other day and it was pretty cool. Rackspace bought an old mall in a bad part of town. I guess having this company there has really started to turn the area around. It got so bad that even a Wal-Mart closed!! I didn't know that was possible! The mall (called the Castle) is really fun. They have a slide that goes from the 2nd floor down to the first, free soda stations, old gondolas as places to sit, the different departments are fun names like Sci-Fi Movies, Cereals and Stores. The company is very forward thinking. They bring in a different caterer every day so their employees don't have to leave work if they don't want to. Every Wednesday is Chic-fil-a day so Joseph is in heaven :) They are also working on having a doctor on site so their employees don't have to take time off of work and in turn the employees have a doctor close by.

We haven't met really anyone except for our neighbors on one side. But whenever I walk around our neighborhood everyone is friendly and says hello. We went and visited Joseph's boss' ward one Sunday but didn't go to our real ward last Sunday because Joseph's Aunt Jen and her family were in town. We all went to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. It was a lot of fun but SO HOT!

Yesterday was a tough day for the Cooper family as Papaw Cooper passed away. His funeral will be on Tuesday morning. We are leaving here Saturday morning to go to Dallas and will leave after the funeral. He was a really great man. I only met him once but I have talked to him on the phone several times since Joseph and I have been married. He will be missed.

On Wednesday Adelyn and I are flying back to Arizona to meet the movers and be there when they pack up my house. I'm also meeting with 2 potential realtors who will list our house. It's going to be a long week between Dallas and Arizona, but I will be excited to sit on a couch and sleep in  a bed that's not on the floor. Joseph is staying in San Antonio when I go up to Arizona. It will be sad to be away from him and I'll be excited to get back here.

Adelyn is 5 months old today but she was really crabby so I wasn't able to do a photo shoot today. Hopefully she'll be in a better mood tomorrow!! :)
